Description:

We’re looking for a motivated Translator Trainee to join our team and help bridge the gap between languages in digital environments. You’ll help translate documents, website content, emails, subtitles, and short-form materials between two or more languages. We’ll teach you how to keep translations short, consistent, and intuitive — so they fit design without losing clarity. You’ll learn how to work with string tables, keys, and variable-based content like “You have 3 new messages. ” Expect to translate UI copy, adapt tone for different markets, and avoid wordy phrasing that breaks layouts. Expect to work with localization tools and learn how strings, keys, and placeholders are handled in modern software. You’ll collaborate with designers and developers to keep meaning and UX intact across languages. You’ll also gain experience adjusting tone, catching cultural references, and translating jokes, idioms, and metaphors accurately. You’ll join feedback sessions, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and learn how language shapes user experience.

Basic Qualifications:

• Ask questions when context is missing—it’s better than guessing and getting it wrong.
• Adapt content so it makes cultural and linguistic sense for the target audience—not just a word-for-word swap.
• Use CAT tools (like SDL Trados, MemoQ, or Smartcat) to streamline work and manage glossaries.
• Be flexible—some projects are casual and fast-paced, others require meticulous attention to tone.
• Maintain a clean, well-organized translation memory and termbase.

• Organized with file naming, version tracking, and clear documentation for each project.
• Open to collaboration with editors, project managers, or localization engineers.
• Understands how to adapt idioms, expressions, or cultural references for target audiences.

• Experience translating written documents such as articles, manuals, subtitles, or websites.
