Description:

We’re hiring a Junior Backend Developer to help design, build, and maintain the server-side of our web applications. You’ll work closely with senior developers to design, implement, and maintain the server-side logic and databases for web applications. You’ll be involved in writing clean, efficient code using backend technologies such as Node. js, Python, or Ruby on Rails. You’ll help integrate databases, ensuring data is stored and retrieved securely and efficiently with minimal latency. You’ll be responsible for helping design and implement APIs that allow communication between the backend and frontend systems. You’ll collaborate with the team to optimize performance and improve the scalability of our backend infrastructure. You’ll gain experience working with cloud services such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure to deploy and manage applications. You’ll collaborate with other developers, participating in code reviews and pair programming to improve your skills.

Basic Qualifications:

• Be responsible for the parts of the system you touch—think through edge cases, test thoroughly, and aim for long-term maintainability.
• Write code that not only works, but also teaches you something new—junior is just a title, your growth is the real goal.
• Help manage and query relational (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) or NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB) databases with care for performance and accuracy.
• Participate in code reviews, retrospectives, and planning meetings to stay involved in the full development lifecycle.
• Write and update technical documentation that helps future developers (and yourself) understand how and why the backend works.

Preferred:

• Familiar with environment variables, .env files, and basic security best practices.
• Curious about performance, scalability, and how to write efficient queries or endpoints.
• Understands the basics of error handling, logging, and debugging backend services.
• Interested in learning unit testing, integration testing, and API validation tools.
• Eager to improve in areas like security, scalability, and clean architecture over time.
