Description:
We’re hiring a Veterinary Assistant to join our animal care team — perfect for someone who’s compassionate, reliable, and eager to support both pets and their owners through every stage of care. You’ll assist with hospitalized patients recovering from surgery, trauma, or illness, providing constant observation and comfort. You’ll help monitor vitals such as temperature, pulse, respiratory rate, hydration, and behavior throughout the day. You’ll help restrain animals during exams, vaccinations, or intake evaluations with a gentle, calming approach. You’ll assist with health assessments, logging weight, temperature, condition, and any visible injuries or stress signals. You’ll monitor animals during recovery after surgeries or sedation, reporting any concerns to medical staff immediately. You’ll learn how to safely administer medications orally, topically, or via injection depending on species and size. You’ll assist in setting up UV lighting, humidity controls, heating pads, or misting systems for exotic recovery areas. You’ll support spay/neuter prep and recovery, helping with pre-op cleaning and post-op monitoring of shelter animals. You’ll work in unpredictable settings — from muddy barns to open pastures — and adapt quickly when conditions change.
Basic Qualifications:
- Assist during euthanasia procedures with compassion and professionalism.
- Participate in team meetings, trainings, or continuing education when available.
- Adapt to changing schedules, urgent cases, or emotional situations with flexibility.
- Build trust with clients through empathy, active listening, and clear communication.
- Be the heartbeat behind the scenes that keeps the clinic running smoothly every day.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of basic animal anatomy, breeds, nutrition, and preventive care practices.
- Background or passion in animal care, veterinary science, zoology, or pet services.
- Team-oriented and ready to assist veterinarians, vet techs, or reception staff when needed.
- Familiar with cleaning cages, exam rooms, surgical instruments, and medical equipment following hygiene protocols.
- Able to communicate clearly with pet owners about post-care instructions, appointments, or check-in procedures.
Benefits:
- A role that truly matters — every animal you help, you’re making a difference in their life.
- Work in a compassionate and supportive environment — we understand the emotional demands of the role and offer a caring workplace.
- A fulfilling career — helping animals in need gives you a sense of purpose every day.
- Team-oriented work culture — you’ll be part of a close-knit team that values each other’s expertise.
- Hands-on experience — learn how to handle a variety of procedures, tools, and animal needs.
You’ll clean and sterilize specialized tools and surfaces to prevent cross-species contamination and ensure biosecurity. You’ll help manage feeding schedules, syringe feeding, or IV nutrition when patients can’t eat independently. You’ll receive mentorship on livestock handling, field safety, and how to stay efficient without sacrificing animal welfare. You’ll be mentored by exotic-focused veterinary professionals who will teach you species-specific skills and safety procedures. No experience is required — just strength, stamina, and a deep respect for animals and the people who care for them. You’ll receive mentorship in emergency response, ICU workflow, and long-term patient management. If you’re ready to care for creatures with feathers, scales, and twitching noses — we’re ready to train you where most never go. This position is ideal for someone considering a veterinary technician career or simply looking to make a difference in pet care. If you’re ready to clean kennels, comfort pets, and help them heal, we’re ready to welcome you into our clinic family.
