Description:

We’re looking for a beginner Tailor who’s ready to learn the timeless craft of garment making and alterations. You don’t need experience, just focus, patience, and a genuine interest in how clothes are made and altered. That’s fine — all you need is steady focus, a careful eye, and a love for clothing that fits right. Each day, you’ll observe fittings, learn to take measurements, and understand the language of cut, fit, and fabric. You’ll help prepare garments for fittings, steam out wrinkles, and hand over freshly pressed pieces with pride. You’ll learn to recognize fabrics by touch, understand their behavior, and choose the right technique for each one. We’ll teach you how to press garments properly, mark alterations accurately, and avoid common beginner mistakes. Every day you’ll improve — stitching straighter, handling fabric better, and moving with more confidence. You’ll train your eye to see symmetry, your hands to steady under pressure, and your mind to solve quiet problems.

Basic Qualifications:

• Stay updated on current fashion trends, tailoring techniques, and fabric technologies to offer modern and functional solutions.
• Adjust garments for special needs or accessibility (e.g., adaptive clothing modifications for medical or mobility reasons).
• Maintain professional communication with clients regarding fitting appointments, pickup times, and alteration recommendations.
• Suggest fabric choices, trims, or modifications to clients when designing or altering garments for special occasions.
• Consult with clients to understand their preferences, style, and fit needs—providing expert advice on tailoring options and fabric behavior.

Preferred:

• Can maintain tailoring equipment and perform basic machine upkeep when necessary.
• Familiar with sewing machines, sergers, overlockers, and hand-stitching tools.
• Pays strong attention to detail and maintains consistency in every stitch and seam.
• Able to calculate fabric usage, reduce waste, and manage cutting layouts efficiently.
• Able to follow custom instructions or adjust standard patterns to meet individual client needs.
