Description:

We’re hiring a Junior Backend Developer to help design, build, and maintain the server-side of our web applications. You’ll work with senior developers to design and implement robust backend systems that support our web applications and services. You’ll be involved in writing clean, efficient code using backend technologies such as Node. js, Python, or Ruby on Rails. You’ll help maintain and optimize databases, ensuring data is stored securely and queries run efficiently. You’ll be responsible for helping design and implement APIs that allow communication between the backend and frontend systems. You’ll collaborate with the team to optimize performance and improve the scalability of our backend infrastructure. You’ll participate in optimizing the backend for speed and scalability, addressing performance issues as they arise. You’ll participate in code reviews, ensuring that best practices and clean coding standards are followed throughout the development process.

Basic Qualifications:

• Write code that not only works, but also teaches you something new—junior is just a title, your growth is the real goal.
• Follow basic security principles like input validation, access control, and environment variable management.
• Stay up to date with new backend tools, frameworks, and best practices to sharpen your skills over time.
• Assist with setting up and maintaining dev environments, local servers, and containerized systems like Docker.
• Contribute to database migrations, schema updates, and data seeding for staging and production environments.

Preferred:

• Open to feedback, pair programming, and continuous learning from senior developers.
• Familiar with relational databases like PostgreSQL or MySQL and how to write simple SQL queries.
• Knows how to structure small backend projects using MVC or modular design patterns.
• Background or strong interest in computer science, backend development, or cloud infrastructure.
• Has a GitHub profile with projects showing API, server, or database work.
