Description:
We’re hiring a Public Transport Inspector for night patrol duties — ideal for someone who’s vigilant, calm under pressure, and ready to keep public transit safe when the city sleeps. You’ll ride buses, trams, or metro cars throughout the day performing random ticket inspections and checking for valid fare media. You’ll patrol stations, terminals, and high-traffic routes, keeping watch for disorderly behavior, vandalism, or unauthorized access. You’ll interact with a wide range of riders, explaining fare policies calmly and professionally — even in tense situations. You’ll coordinate with station staff, security, and control centers during crowding, signal issues, or other disruptions. You’ll use diagnostic tools, hand instruments, and visual assessments to record detailed vehicle condition reports. You’ll assist with verifying proper signage, accessibility routes, and digital information displays for accuracy and functionality. You’ll monitor fuel and fluid levels, tire condition, and battery health as part of preventive maintenance protocols. You’ll document any violations of metro regulations, such as fare evasion, disorderly conduct, or platform trespassing.
Basic Qualifications:
- Perform uniform and behavior checks for on-duty transit personnel if required.
- Stay informed about updates to public transit policies, fare structures, or route adjustments.
- Work independently across large areas while staying organized and alert.
- Check tickets and passes, verifying passenger compliance with fare regulations.
- Conduct random or scheduled inspections onboard or at stations during various shifts.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of transportation regulations, fare systems, and ticketing technologies including contactless payment methods.
- Physically fit and able to stand, walk, or travel frequently between transport vehicles and terminals.
- Organized in tracking daily observations, submitting reports, and following up on complaints or compliance issues.
- Comfortable using handheld devices or inspection apps to log data and issue citations or reminders.
- Can report on mechanical issues, environmental hazards, or unsafe rider behavior observed during inspections.
Benefits:
- You’ll work in a structured, fair environment where you’re valued as a vital part of the team.
- Health, dental, and retirement benefits — we care about your well-being, both physically and financially.
- Opportunities to move into specialized areas — like ticket inspection, safety compliance, or customer service roles.
- Ongoing training and development — we support your growth with regular updates on safety standards and procedures.
- Access to mental health support — we know the job can be challenging, and we offer resources to help.
You’ll be expected to remain visible and approachable to deter misconduct and help passengers navigate the system. You’ll be responsible for submitting daily reports on citations issued, incidents handled, and unusual rider behavior. You’ll work in pairs or small teams to ensure safety and coverage across different routes or areas. You’ll maintain clear and calm communication during disruptions to ensure passengers feel informed and supported. You’ll be expected to stay alert and professional during extended hours, especially between 11 PM and 5 AM shifts. You’ll be mentored by senior inspectors experienced in night operations and rapid response situations. No previous experience is required — just reliability, strong observational skills, and comfort working after dark. If you’re ready to walk the last platform and protect the final ride of the night, we’re ready to train you for night patrol. If you're ready to keep the underground running safely and smoothly, we’re ready to train you for metro inspection duty.
