Description:

We’re hiring a Mail Carrier Trainee for our urban bicycle delivery team — perfect for someone who enjoys movement, independence, and getting mail where it needs to go quickly. You’ll begin by learning how incoming mail is received, sorted, and prepared for carriers or pickup shelves. You’ll assist behind the counter, organizing letters and packages for walk-in customers and scheduled deliveries. You’ll assist with loading your vehicle — balancing boxes, envelopes, and supplies for a full day on the road. You’ll help with bagging, sealing, and labeling outgoing mailbags for delivery to local, regional, or national destinations. You’ll learn to recognize repeat recipients and build trust with residents who rely on you for news, medicine, and supplies. You’ll work in a clean, high-paced environment where accuracy and rhythm matter more than speed alone. You’ll learn how to update delivery statuses, log undeliverable items, and notify recipients about missed pickups. You’ll rotate between the front desk, sorting area, and storage room to understand the full scope of post office logistics.

Basic Qualifications:

• Follow assigned routes efficiently while adapting to detours, traffic, or road conditions.
• Respond politely to customers’ questions or requests about deliveries or postal procedures.
• Wear appropriate weather gear and stay prepared for rain, snow, or heat during routes.
• Scan barcodes and update tracking systems in real time using handheld devices.
• Ensure mail is delivered to the correct address with attention to names, unit numbers, and instructions.

Preferred:

• Understands the responsibility of handling sensitive documents and time-critical deliveries.
• Capable of managing a fast-paced workload independently while meeting strict time deadlines.
• Willing to sort incoming mail in preparation for daily delivery rounds.
• Able to follow designated routes, use GPS or route maps, and deliver mail on time in all weather conditions.
• Familiar with organizing, sorting, and loading mail or packages for efficient route delivery.

You’ll help collect outgoing mail from public boxes or designated pickup points and return it to the post office on time. You’ll be trained in weather safety, load balance, and walking/driving efficiency to stay productive in all conditions. You’ll be mentored on time management, route adjustments, and how to stay organized with a high degree of autonomy.
