Description:
We’re hiring a Paramedic Trainee to assist in rural and remote response units — ideal for someone who wants to learn how emergency care works far from city hospitals and support systems. You’ll begin by shadowing licensed paramedics on real calls, observing how they assess, stabilize, and transport patients under pressure. You’ll help prepare for long transports by checking oxygen supply, battery life, medications, and equipment before each shift. You’ll assist with treating a wide range of emergencies — from heart attacks and injuries to allergic reactions and animal-related trauma. You’ll help with patient documentation, learning how to record symptoms, injuries, and treatments accurately and quickly. You’ll assist in lifting patients from hazardous environments and supporting their transfer to emergency vehicles. You’ll be trained to spot early signs of medical distress in crowds, such as dehydration, intoxication, or anxiety. You’ll learn how paramedics improvise when backup is unavailable and how to make quick decisions with minimal tools. You’ll support team hygiene routines by cleaning and disinfecting the ambulance between transports and after patient contact.
Basic Qualifications:
- Support disaster relief efforts, mass casualty events, or community outreach programs if required.
- Report equipment malfunctions or vehicle issues promptly to maintain operational readiness.
- Keep certifications like CPR, ACLS, and PHTLS current through regular training and education.
- Remain flexible and alert throughout unpredictable, high-intensity shifts.
- Help train new paramedics, EMTs, or interns when assigned to do so.
Preferred:
- Thrives in unpredictable, high-stakes environments where readiness and skill save lives.
- Organized in documenting patient vitals, treatments, and interventions using electronic or written patient care reports (PCRs).
- Capable of quick decision-making under pressure while maintaining compassion and ethical judgment.
- Understands medical protocols, triage methods, and scope of practice defined by local or national regulations.
- Comfortable assessing patient conditions, stabilizing trauma cases, and communicating findings to hospital staff.
Benefits:
- Recognition for calm under pressure — not just heroic moments.
- Career pathways beyond the rig — instructor, supervisor, dispatcher, or medic-lead.
- We celebrate patient saves *and* great CPR scores.
- Paid rest time after high-stress calls — we understand adrenaline crashes.
- Respect across the board — from nurses to firefighters to dispatch.
You’ll be trained on how to handle delayed discharges, route changes, or patients with complex medical histories respectfully and efficiently. You’ll learn how to log patient data accurately even under pressure, and how those records affect treatment down the line. You’ll be expected to follow hygiene and safety standards closely, including proper PPE usage and biohazard disposal. You’ll build confidence in using vital signs monitors, oxygen delivery tools, and communication devices en route. You’ll be part of a public-facing team that protects health and safety while helping the event feel organized and secure. No experience is needed — just a deep sense of responsibility, curiosity, and respect for the challenges of rural medicine. This internship is ideal for someone considering EMS, wilderness rescue, or healthcare work in underserved regions. If you’re ready to help patients get where they need to be with care and clarity, we’re ready to train you.
