Description:
We’re hiring a Public Transport Inspector to oversee operations within the metro system — ideal for someone who’s attentive, safety-conscious, and comfortable working underground in a fast-paced environment. You’ll be responsible for monitoring transit vehicles and routes to confirm adherence to schedules, cleanliness standards, and safety regulations. You’ll check braking systems, lighting, signaling devices, doors, suspension, and emergency equipment according to checklists. You’ll be trained to identify early signs of wear, rust, fluid leaks, or damage that could lead to service interruptions or safety risks. You’ll issue citations or warnings for fare evasion based on department protocol, always with clear documentation. You’ll be expected to manage minor disputes on board by de-escalating calmly and avoiding disruption to service. You’ll coordinate with drivers, station attendants, and law enforcement when managing difficult situations or fare disputes. You’ll help passengers understand how to purchase tickets, recharge travel cards, or file complaints or questions if needed. You’ll help ensure all vehicles adhere to city and national transport regulations before entering public service.
Basic Qualifications:
- Remain visible and professional to deter violations and reassure passengers.
- Monitor buses, trams, or trains to ensure compliance with schedules, routes, and operational standards.
- Assist in coordinating emergency procedures or passenger evacuations when needed.
- Identify and report service delays, overcrowding, or safety concerns to dispatch or supervisors.
- Support crowd management and passenger flow during peak hours or special events.
Preferred:
- Able to document violations, prepare incident reports, and cooperate with law enforcement or supervisors when needed.
- Enjoys being active, interacting with people, and ensuring a high standard of service for the community.
- Willing to educate passengers on fare rules, boarding etiquette, and transit policies when needed.
- Wants to grow into roles like Senior Inspector, Operations Coordinator, or Compliance Officer.
- Able to interpret schedules, maps, and service zones to verify route accuracy and stop coverage.
Benefits:
- Stable hours and predictable shifts — you'll know exactly when you're working.
- Opportunities to move into specialized areas — like ticket inspection, safety compliance, or customer service roles.
- Opportunities for overtime — especially during peak travel times or busy seasons.
- You’re not just enforcing rules — you’re helping people get to their destinations safely and on time.
- Access to mental health support — we know the job can be challenging, and we offer resources to help.
You’ll document nighttime activity, incident logs, and inspection summaries with detail and accuracy. You’ll support customer service by answering rider questions, providing directions, or distributing service update materials during inspections. You’ll work in pairs or small teams to ensure safety and coverage across different routes or areas. You’ll maintain clear and calm communication during disruptions to ensure passengers feel informed and supported. You’ll be mentored by senior inspectors who will show you how to balance authority with respect and efficiency with fairness. You’ll be mentored by senior inspectors who will teach you to notice what others miss — because public safety depends on it. You’ll work in indoor and outdoor conditions, sometimes during poor weather or with limited lighting. If you’re ready to protect the integrity of public transit and ensure everyone rides fairly, we’re ready to train you for inspection duty. If you're ready to help keep public vehicles reliable, safe, and road-ready, we’re ready to train you as a transport inspector.
