Description:

We’re seeking a Junior Backend Developer to join our team and help create scalable and efficient backend systems for web applications. You’ll work closely with senior developers to design, implement, and maintain the server-side logic and databases for web applications. You’ll assist with building RESTful APIs, managing data flow, and integrating backend services with frontend applications. js, Python, or Java, depending on our stack. You’ll help maintain and optimize databases, ensuring data is stored securely and queries run efficiently. You’ll collaborate with database administrators to maintain and optimize database systems for fast and efficient data access. You’ll work with cloud services like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure to deploy applications and scale infrastructure as needed. You’ll gain experience working with cloud services such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure to deploy and manage applications. You’ll participate in code reviews, ensuring that best practices and clean coding standards are followed throughout the development process.

Basic Qualifications:

• Keep your local environment organized—env files, seed scripts, API docs—all make onboarding easier for others.
• Work closely with senior developers to understand business logic, system architecture, and coding standards.
• Break down tasks into manageable chunks and track progress using tools like Jira, Trello, or Notion.
• Document your bugs, experiments, and fixes—it helps the whole team and makes you a more thoughtful developer.
• Help manage and query relational (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) or NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB) databases with care for performance and accuracy.

Preferred:

• Open to feedback, pair programming, and continuous learning from senior developers.
• Familiar with relational databases like PostgreSQL or MySQL and how to write simple SQL queries.
• Understands the basics of error handling, logging, and debugging backend services.
• Able to follow Jira boards, Trello, or other project management tools in remote teams.
• Comfortable using tools like Postman or Insomnia for testing APIs.
