Description:

We’re hiring a Junior Backend Developer to help design, build, and maintain the server-side of our web applications. You’ll work closely with senior developers to design, implement, and maintain the server-side logic and databases for web applications. You’ll assist in writing clean and well-documented code using backend technologies such as Node. js, Python, or Ruby on Rails. You’ll help maintain and optimize databases, ensuring data is stored securely and queries run efficiently. You’ll collaborate with database administrators to maintain and optimize database systems for fast and efficient data access. You’ll work with cloud services like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure to deploy applications and scale infrastructure as needed. You’ll help ensure the security of our applications, including data protection, authentication, and authorization.

Basic Qualifications:

• Write and update technical documentation that helps future developers (and yourself) understand how and why the backend works.
• Help manage and query relational (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) or NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB) databases with care for performance and accuracy.
• Use version control systems (like Git) to commit code, review changes, and stay in sync with team branches and main builds.
• Support the development and maintenance of backend services, APIs, and database logic using Node.js, Python, Java, or other backend languages.
• Keep your local environment organized—env files, seed scripts, API docs—all make onboarding easier for others.

Preferred:

• Able to follow Jira boards, Trello, or other project management tools in remote teams.
• Can write clean, readable, and reusable code with comments and basic documentation.
• Curious about performance, scalability, and how to write efficient queries or endpoints.
• Experience using Git for version control and collaborating on platforms like GitHub.
• Can deploy simple apps to services like Render, Vercel, Heroku, or Railway.
