Description:
We’re offering an opportunity to become a Tailor — no experience required, just a passion for clothes, precision, and hands-on work. No experience? You’ll begin with the basics: folding fabric, threading needles, and understanding the rhythm of the sewing machine. You’ll learn how different materials behave — from cotton and wool to silk and synthetics. Expect to assist with simple tasks like hemming pants, fixing buttons, and prepping garments for alterations. You’ll learn to recognize fabrics by touch, understand their behavior, and choose the right technique for each one. We’ll teach you how to press garments properly, mark alterations accurately, and avoid common beginner mistakes. You’ll also learn hand-stitching techniques for delicate fixes and invisible seams. Expect to build both technical skills and artistic judgment — tailoring is as much about feel as it is about tools.
Basic Qualifications:
- Stay updated on current fashion trends, tailoring techniques, and fabric technologies to offer modern and functional solutions.
- Track work orders, deadlines, and fittings using logs, client cards, or digital systems to ensure timely delivery.
- Shorten, lengthen, taper, or let out garments based on client requests or seasonal trends.
- Collaborate with bridal boutiques, fashion designers, dry cleaners, or retail stores for bulk alteration services or specialty fittings.
- Maintain professional communication with clients regarding fitting appointments, pickup times, and alteration recommendations.
Preferred:
- Able to take accurate body measurements and translate them into well-fitted garments.
- Familiar with sewing machines, sergers, overlockers, and hand-stitching tools.
- Proficient in sewing, altering, and repairing garments by hand or using industrial sewing machines.
- Can meet deadlines for tailoring jobs and handle multiple garments simultaneously.
- Able to follow custom instructions or adjust standard patterns to meet individual client needs.
Benefits:
- Your hands, your vision, your stitching — no two pieces are ever the same.
- We cover repairs and machine maintenance — so you can just sew.
- You get credited for your craft — your name can be part of the label.
- Needle breaks, fabric woes? There’s always someone to help — no drama, just teamwork.
- Fair, steady pay — no guessing, no last-minute changes.
You’ll learn how to match thread, work with linings, and spot fitting issues before they become problems. You’ll be part of fittings with customers, learning how to listen, observe, and translate their needs into results. This is not fast fashion — it’s slow, precise work that builds lasting skill and quiet pride. We value patience and craftsmanship — fast isn’t the goal, quality is. Each day, you’ll touch timeless tools and build a skill that machines alone can’t replace. Clients will thank you when they feel amazing in something that fits just right because of your help. As your abilities grow, so will your opportunities — this is a skill you can take anywhere. If you’re ready to turn curiosity into craftsmanship, and effort into expertise — this is your moment to begin. If you're ready to build a skill you can use for life — and maybe even turn it into a career — we’ll help you start from zero.
