Description:
We’re hiring an Actuary Trainee who’s passionate about numbers, risk, and turning data into real-world decisions — no experience required, just strong math skills and a curious, analytical mind. You’ll assist in developing financial models that help estimate uncertainty and support smarter decision-making. We’ll teach you how to work with data sets, clean messy inputs, and extract meaningful insights for actuarial use. You’ll help evaluate life expectancy, claim frequency, and potential financial outcomes based on real-world data. Expect to work on both short-term projects like pricing support and long-term forecasting across multiple sectors. You’ll use tools like Excel, R, or Python — and we’ll help you ramp up if you’re new to any of them. We’ll guide you through actuarial concepts like mortality tables, discounting, and loss reserving. You’ll participate in discussions about reserves, liabilities, and how companies prepare for the unexpected. You’ll support scenario analysis and contribute to regular model updates based on fresh data inputs.
Basic Qualifications:
- Support financial reporting, reserve calculations, and solvency assessments for compliance and audits.
- Advise on product design, pricing strategy, or risk tolerance based on model outcomes.
- Perform scenario testing to evaluate the impact of events like inflation spikes, market crashes, or demographic shifts.
- Train or mentor junior actuarial staff and help them prepare for certification exams.
- Adapt models for use in new product lines or geographies as the business grows.
Preferred:
- Pays close attention to assumptions, methodologies, and sensitivity analysis in modeling.
- Comfortable using tools like Excel (with advanced functions), SAS, Prophet, or VBA for data manipulation.
- Experience with audit support or regulatory submissions is a plus.
- Organized in managing data sources, documentation, and model version control.
- Understands regulatory environments and reporting requirements in insurance or finance.
Benefits:
- Your curiosity will be rewarded — we love people who ask “what if…” and build from there.
- Clear growth path — analyst → associate → senior → partner (with zero office politics).
- Collaborate cross-functionally — underwriters, devs, product managers, and data scientists.
- No vague gut decisions here — your numbers drive strategy, policy, and pricing.
- We support exam prep with time off, full reimbursement, and a Slack channel that understands pain.
You’ll also assist in risk reporting and learn how to interpret the results of your own models accurately. You’ll also explore how regulation affects models and why transparency in assumptions matters. You’ll learn how to explain complex numbers in simple terms for non-technical audiences. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys logic, structure, and finding clarity in uncertainty. You’ll gain foundational experience that supports future actuarial exams and certifications. This is perfect for someone who enjoys math, logic, and finding patterns in data that others miss. By the end of the program, you’ll understand the foundations of actuarial science and have contributed to real risk models. If you’re ready to make numbers meaningful and learn how to manage uncertainty — this is your starting point.
