Description:

We’re looking for a Junior Backend Developer to help us build reliable, scalable, and efficient server-side solutions. You’ll work with experienced developers to build backend infrastructure that ensures smooth communication between servers, databases, and clients. You’ll assist with building RESTful APIs, managing data flow, and integrating backend services with frontend applications. js, Python, Java, or Ruby, depending on the stack. You’ll assist in managing databases, ensuring data is stored securely and efficiently, and supporting scalable solutions. You’ll be responsible for building and maintaining RESTful APIs that enable seamless communication between frontend and backend systems. You’ll collaborate with frontend developers to integrate user-facing elements with backend services. You’ll work with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure to deploy applications and manage server environments. You’ll collaborate with other developers, participating in code reviews and pair programming to improve your skills.

Basic Qualifications:

• Participate in code reviews, retrospectives, and planning meetings to stay involved in the full development lifecycle.
• Stay up to date with new backend tools, frameworks, and best practices to sharpen your skills over time.
• Understand basic DevOps concepts so you can better collaborate on deployments and server-related tasks.
• Keep your local environment organized—env files, seed scripts, API docs—all make onboarding easier for others.
• Write clean, well-documented, and testable code that connects frontend requests to backend logic reliably and securely.

Preferred:

• Can write clean, readable, and reusable code with comments and basic documentation.
• Can deploy simple apps to services like Render, Vercel, Heroku, or Railway.
• Familiar with environment variables, .env files, and basic security best practices.
• Knows how to structure small backend projects using MVC or modular design patterns.
• Familiar with relational databases like PostgreSQL or MySQL and how to write simple SQL queries.
