Description:
We’re hiring a Shoe Repair Specialist who specializes in athletic and casual footwear — perfect for someone who understands the mechanics of sneakers, active shoes, and performance wear. You’ll travel to homes, offices, or drop-off hubs with a compact repair kit to perform on-the-spot fixes or collect shoes for workshop service. You’ll assist in restoring fine leather, suede, patent, and exotic skins using brand-appropriate techniques and restoration products. You’ll replace heels, re-glue soles, stitch torn uppers, and polish shoes while customers browse or shop nearby. You’ll learn how to use micro-sanders, needle stitchers, and hand-finishing tools to restore like-new condition without altering original structure. You’ll help log repairs via tablet, issue digital receipts, and track pick-up/drop-off details through the mobile dispatch system. You’ll work with synthetic materials, foam, canvas, rubber, and glued constructions that differ from traditional leather shoes. You’ll document repairs, log materials used, and track turnaround time for client orders and repeat customers. You’ll rotate between active repair work, customer service, and basic sales of shoe care products and accessories.
Basic Qualifications:
- Polish, condition, and clean leather or suede shoes to improve appearance and prolong lifespan.
- Offer additional services like belt shortening, bag stitching, or leather care when appropriate.
- Repair and restore footwear by replacing soles, heels, zippers, and worn-out parts using specialized tools.
- Adapt to unusual or custom repair requests with creativity and resourcefulness.
- Use machinery such as grinders, stitching machines, and presses safely and precisely.
Preferred:
- Capable of identifying structural damage and recommending realistic, cost-effective solutions.
- Enjoys giving new life to worn items and preserving the quality of well-loved footwear.
- Thrives in quiet, skill-focused environments where patience and technique make a difference.
- Skilled in using tools such as hammers, knives, sanders, sewing machines, and adhesive applicators.
- Familiar with using digital payment systems, service logs, or basic POS software in a repair shop setting.
Benefits:
- Recognition for your craftsmanship — each pair of shoes is a testament to your skill.
- Paid time off and holidays — we care about your personal time and well-being.
- Work in a cozy, organized shop — your space is dedicated to your craft and comfort.
- Health, dental, and retirement benefits — we value your well-being just as much as your work.
- The opportunity to work with a variety of materials — leather, suede, fabric, and more.
You’ll maintain a clean, visually appealing workstation that invites passersby and communicates professional craftsmanship. You’ll interact with clients to take repair requests, explain the work process, and offer care tips for long-term shoe health. You’ll assist with urgent requests like fixing a broken heel before a meeting or prepping shoes before a special event. You’ll maintain a clean workstation stocked with adhesives, foams, and tools specific to casual footwear. You’ll be mentored by master cobblers who specialize in bespoke and couture repair standards. No experience required — just a love for sneakers, respect for movement, and good hands for the job. Prior experience with leatherwork or fashion repair is a plus, but passion for excellence matters most. If you're ready to fix soles and save days without a storefront, we’re ready to train you for the road.
