Description:

We’re looking for a Gardener / Landscaper Trainee — no experience needed, just a willingness to get your hands dirty and learn something real. No experience? We’ll teach you the basics: how to handle tools safely, how to dig without damaging roots, and how to water properly. We’ll teach you the names of common plants, how to care for them, and how to recognize when something’s wrong. You’ll learn how to care for lawns, flower beds, shrubs, and trees in all kinds of weather and soil conditions. Each day you’ll see how small details — like clean edges or evenly spaced plants — make a huge visual difference. You’ll discover how to create clean edges along sidewalks, lay out beds in patterns, and help with small landscaping builds. We’ll show you how to shape flower beds, edge lawns, and make small spaces feel neat and intentional. We’ll show you how to spot signs of disease, pests, or poor drainage — and how to fix or prevent problems.

Basic Qualifications:

• Plant, prune, water, and maintain a variety of flowers, shrubs, trees, and lawns in residential, commercial, or public spaces.
• Help train junior staff on landscaping techniques, tool safety, and plant care when needed.
• Install sod, turf, or ground cover and prepare soil by digging, aerating, or grading for optimal growing conditions.
• Keep tools clean, sharp, and properly stored; notify supervisors of damaged or missing equipment.
• Adapt to outdoor working conditions—sun, rain, heat, or cold—and maintain productivity across changing environments.

Preferred:

• Familiar with planting, pruning, mowing, weeding, mulching, and seasonal clean-up tasks.
• Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions and performing physically demanding labor.
• Pays attention to detail when shaping hedges, edging beds, or maintaining symmetry in plant layouts.
• Willing to learn about eco-friendly practices, native plants, and sustainable landscaping design.
• Enjoys hands-on work, fresh air, and seeing the results of their efforts grow over time.
