Description:

We’re hiring a Mail Carrier Trainee for rural routes — perfect for someone who’s responsible, enjoys quiet roads, and wants to bring dependable service to small communities. You’ll begin by learning how to prepare your vehicle and route for longer trips with fewer stops but greater distances between deliveries. You’ll be trained to sort mail by road or township, grouping letters and packages by delivery order for maximum efficiency. You’ll be trained to read postal codes, route labels, and special instructions to direct each item to the correct zone. You’ll drive through a mix of paved and unpaved roads, stopping at mailboxes, gates, or porches to complete deliveries. You’ll be taught how to safely approach homes, manage gated entries, and handle mailboxes of all types. You’ll gain confidence in biking through city traffic, using bike lanes and safe crossing points to stay on route. You’ll gain experience delivering to businesses, apartments, homes, and remote areas while staying on schedule. You’ll help handle rerouted mail, forwarding it when needed or returning undeliverables with notes for follow-up.

Basic Qualifications:

• Scan barcodes and update tracking systems in real time using handheld devices.
• Ensure mail is delivered to the correct address with attention to names, unit numbers, and instructions.
• Communicate any delays, missed deliveries, or issues with dispatch or supervisors.
• Take pride in connecting people and businesses through reliable, day-to-day service.
• Contribute to a team environment when helping with sorting, rerouting, or training new hires.

• Understands how to handle fragile, perishable, or time-sensitive items appropriately.
