Description:

We’re looking for a beginner Tailor who’s ready to learn the timeless craft of garment making and alterations. You don’t need experience, just focus, patience, and a genuine interest in how clothes are made and altered. You’ll begin with the basics: folding fabric, threading needles, and understanding the rhythm of the sewing machine. You’ll start by learning how to measure correctly, cut fabric cleanly, and use sewing machines safely. Expect to assist with simple tasks like hemming pants, fixing buttons, and prepping garments for alterations. As your confidence grows, you’ll get hands-on with sewing machines and learn how to stitch straight, strong, and clean. You’ll be trained by master tailors who will guide you through techniques that take years to perfect. You’ll discover how every fabric has its own personality — and how tailors work with each one carefully. You’ll train your eye to see symmetry, your hands to steady under pressure, and your mind to solve quiet problems.

Basic Qualifications:

• Suggest fabric choices, trims, or modifications to clients when designing or altering garments for special occasions.
• Stay updated on current fashion trends, tailoring techniques, and fabric technologies to offer modern and functional solutions.
• Collaborate with bridal boutiques, fashion designers, dry cleaners, or retail stores for bulk alteration services or specialty fittings.
• Sew, alter, repair, and restyle clothing such as suits, dresses, pants, jackets, and uniforms using sewing machines, sergers, and hand stitching.
• Handle minor repairs such as fixing zippers, replacing buttons, patching holes, or re-stitching seams quickly and efficiently.

Preferred:

• Background or interest in fashion, garment design, costume creation, or textile work.
• Wants to grow into roles like Master Tailor, Pattern Maker, or Custom Clothing Designer.
• Proficient in sewing, altering, and repairing garments by hand or using industrial sewing machines.
• Pays strong attention to detail and maintains consistency in every stitch and seam.
• Willing to create or alter prototypes, samples, or custom design requests when needed.
