Description:

We’re hiring a Baker Trainee to join our cozy café team — perfect for someone who loves the smell of fresh pastry and wants to help create baked goods that people enjoy every morning. You’ll begin by supporting early morning prep — scaling ingredients, cracking eggs, and measuring flour to precise specifications. You’ll be trained to follow house recipes carefully while still leaving room for creativity and personal touch. You’ll be trained to shape loaves, rolls, and pastries with consistency and care, following in-house recipes and ratios. You’ll rotate between tasks like mixing, baking, glazing, and plating — seeing the full process from start to finish. You’ll rotate between mixing, shaping, loading, baking, and packaging stations as part of a coordinated production team. You’ll learn how to label products correctly, note allergens, and pack items with full transparency for customer confidence. You’ll assist in maintaining a clean, allergen-controlled workspace and logging batches to track consistency and safety. You’ll be part of testing new recipes, helping explore how natural binders and leaveners react in small-batch baking.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Log batches, waste, or recipe notes for future reference or quality tracking.
  • Ensure all items meet consistent taste, texture, and appearance standards.
  • Coordinate with team members to divide tasks and keep the workflow smooth during busy hours.
  • Keep cool under pressure when juggling multiple timers, orders, or adjustments.
  • Handle customer requests or complaints respectfully, especially in smaller bakery settings.

Preferred:

  • Able to organize prep lists, rotate stock, and manage inventory for ingredients and baked goods.
  • Can work independently or take direction in a bakery, café, hotel, or commissary kitchen.
  • Willing to assist with early morning or overnight baking shifts depending on production schedules.
  • Experience preparing baked goods such as breads, pastries, cookies, cakes, or pies in a commercial or artisanal setting.
  • Understands the importance of timing, temperature, and ingredient freshness in baking success.
