Description:

We’re looking for a Game Writer who can turn mechanics into meaning, quests into emotions, and dialogue into unforgettable moments — someone who sees games not just as systems, but as stories you live inside. You’ll craft storylines, quests, and characters that entertain, surprise, and invite emotional investment without ever slowing the game down. You’ll be responsible for writing dialogue that sounds real, reads clean, and carries emotional weight — whether it’s a whisper or a monologue. We’ll count on you to work closely with environment artists and level designers to deliver environmental storytelling that feels intentional and alive. We expect you to understand voice, tone, and consistency — and know how to make a character feel real in just three lines. You’ll help define narrative pacing across levels, chapters, or acts — mapping tension, revelation, and rest. You’ll support cinematic scenes with scripts that respect camera timing, voice pacing, and performance needs. You’ll collaborate with quest designers to make sure plot hooks, rewards, and player motivations feel earned and narratively grounded. You’ll also work with VO directors and localization partners to ensure lines land emotionally across cultures and performances.

Basic Qualifications:

• Develop branching narratives, quests, and outcomes that react to player choices.
• Document lore, characters, and storylines so other teams can reference and build on them.
• Respond to feedback from QA, developers, and players to improve narrative clarity and impact.
• Champion the player’s perspective—how will this moment feel, sound, or land emotionally?
• Edit and refine scripts based on pacing, playtests, and team feedback.

Preferred:

• Able to maintain deadlines and version control while collaborating remotely or on-site.
• Open to writing gender-neutral or localized content with cultural sensitivity and accessibility in mind.
• Able to balance narrative ambition with practical limitations like localization, animation timing, or budget constraints.
• Able to collaborate with game designers, narrative leads, and developers to ensure story integrates smoothly with gameplay.
• Can contribute to main storylines, side quests, character banter, or interactive tutorials.

You’ll assist in naming quests, writing tooltips, and refining micro-copy that adds polish and depth. You’ll use branching dialogue, collectibles, and environmental clues to deliver story in a nonlinear, player-driven way. You should be comfortable using narrative design tools and working in nonlinear, branching systems. You’ll participate in writing room sessions, brainstorms, and internal pitches to evolve characters and narrative arcs. You’ll participate in creative brainstorms, pitch missions, and help shape the game’s emotional identity from the inside out.
