Description:

We’re looking for a Building Maintenance Technician Trainee who’s eager to learn, even if you’ve never fixed anything before. You don’t need a toolbox or experience — just show up ready to listen, work, and improve every day. We’ll train you from the ground up — showing you how to safely use tools, read maintenance logs, and follow procedures. Early responsibilities include resetting breakers, replacing light bulbs, and learning how to handle basic tools. You’ll start to understand how heating, cooling, plumbing, and electrical components are maintained day to day. You’ll learn how to safely use tools, ladders, and equipment — and when to ask for help. You’ll assist in setting up and maintaining maintenance logs, tracking what’s been fixed and what still needs work. We’ll guide you in creating maintenance checklists, reporting issues, and keeping detailed logs of your work. Plumbing, electrical, painting, locks — you’ll get a taste of everything as you explore the trade.

Basic Qualifications:

• Assist with seasonal tasks like snow removal, HVAC filter changes, or landscaping duties depending on facility type.
• Maintain common areas, restrooms, stairwells, and mechanical rooms in clean, safe, and working condition.
• Update logs and work orders using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) to track activity and parts used.
• Operate and monitor building systems such as boilers, chillers, fire alarms, and security systems under supervision or per checklist.
• Identify opportunities to improve building energy efficiency, safety, or space functionality and report them to management.

Preferred:

• Able to prioritize tasks and respond quickly to urgent maintenance issues.
• Thrives in environments where no two days are exactly the same and work has a direct impact.
• Able to inspect and troubleshoot issues with lighting, locks, doors, restrooms, or appliances.
• Understands how to read blueprints, equipment manuals, or work orders.
• Can interact professionally with tenants, office staff, or building managers.
