Description:

We’re hiring a Seamstress Trainee who’s excited to learn how to turn fabric into garments, adjust fits, and bring creative ideas to life with a needle and thread. You’ll begin by learning the basics — how to operate different sewing machines, handle fabrics, and follow safety procedures. You’ll be trained to work with various materials — from heavy period fabrics to stretchwear, lace, sequins, and leather. You’ll be trained to sew straight lines, curves, hems, darts, and zippers with increasing precision and control. You’ll support zipper replacements, invisible mending, and patching small holes in both everyday and formal wear. You’ll support the costume build process from sketches and concept art to final fittings and show-ready garments. You’ll assist with hand-sewing tasks like closing linings, adding buttons, or finishing delicate edges. You’ll be taught how to press garments properly using steamers and irons to give each piece a polished look. You’ll help track inventory, log finished repairs, and prepare garments for pickup or delivery using order systems.

Basic Qualifications:

• Keep scraps and materials organized for future reuse or patching work.
• Replace zippers, buttons, linings, and other garment components as needed.
• Follow patterns or design sketches to create new clothing items or custom pieces.
• Handle delicate or high-value garments with extra attention and discretion.
• Communicate clearly with clients about alteration timelines, design requests, and garment care.

Preferred:

• Organized in managing multiple sewing projects, client deadlines, or production quotas.
• Willing to assist in pressing, steaming, and final presentation of finished pieces.
• Enjoys transforming fabric into functional or decorative clothing pieces.
• Experience sewing garments, home textiles, or accessories either by hand or using industrial sewing machines.
• Thrives in focused, creative environments where skill and patience produce beautiful results.
