Description:

We’re looking for an Actuary Trainee who wants to learn how numbers shape the future of finance, insurance, and risk — no prior experience needed, just strong analytical skills and attention to detail. You’ll support senior actuaries in analyzing trends, building financial models, and exploring patterns in risk-related data. We’ll teach you how to work with data sets, clean messy inputs, and extract meaningful insights for actuarial use. You’ll learn to use industry-standard tools and spreadsheets to simulate future scenarios and analyze risk exposure. Expect to calculate probabilities, analyze trends, and understand how small shifts in data impact financial outcomes. You’ll use tools like Excel, R, or Python — and we’ll help you ramp up if you’re new to any of them. We’ll introduce you to loss triangles, exposure curves, and the building blocks of long-term projections. You’ll assist in creating reports and charts that help stakeholders make informed, risk-aware decisions. We’ll guide you through key actuarial metrics like expected value, standard deviation, and confidence intervals.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Review reinsurance arrangements and evaluate how they affect risk exposure and capital needs.
  • Participate in quarterly or annual filings, helping to meet reporting deadlines without cutting corners.
  • Balance mathematical precision with practical judgment—sometimes the data alone isn't enough.
  • Be the person who makes sense of uncertainty and helps others plan for it.
  • Stay current on changes in tax laws, insurance regulation, and actuarial standards of practice.

Preferred:

  • Background or strong interest in actuarial science, economics, risk management, or applied statistics.
  • Organized in managing data sources, documentation, and model version control.
  • Able to analyze large data sets and interpret trends for insurance, pensions, or investment decisions.
  • Familiar with building models to assess risk, calculate premiums, and forecast future liabilities.
  • Willing to assist in preparing reports, presentations, and technical documentation for stakeholders.

Benefits:

  • Regular actuarial roundtables, idea shares, and “let’s nerf this assumption” debates.
  • Your curiosity will be rewarded — we love people who ask “what if…” and build from there.
  • Clear growth path — analyst → associate → senior → partner (with zero office politics).
  • And yes, we know actuary jokes — but we’ll only tell them if you ask.
  • Health, dental, vision — plus disability and life insurance policies you could probably price better yourself.

You’ll observe how actuaries communicate technical findings clearly to executives, regulators, and non-technical teams. You’ll also explore how regulation affects models and why transparency in assumptions matters. This is a perfect opportunity for someone who enjoys puzzles, patterns, and applying structure to ambiguity. You’ll work in a collaborative team that values questions, ideas, and continuous learning. You’ll gain exposure to life insurance, pensions, health models, or general insurance depending on placement. You’ll leave with practical experience that complements your actuarial studies or builds the base to start them. By the end of the program, you’ll understand the foundations of actuarial science and have contributed to real risk models. If you’re ready to make numbers meaningful and learn how to manage uncertainty — this is your starting point.
