We’re looking for a Trainee Tailor who’s ready to learn one of the most respected and useful trades — tailoring. If you’ve never touched a sewing machine before, don’t worry — we’ll guide you through every stitch. In your first days, you’ll help with simple alterations — fixing zippers, shortening sleeves, and adjusting hems. You’ll observe quiet hands at work — cutting, stitching, pressing — and begin to understand the elegance of the process. In your first weeks, you’ll help with simple alterations like hemming, adjusting lengths, and reattaching buttons. You’ll learn to recognize fabrics by touch, understand their behavior, and choose the right technique for each one. We’ll teach you how to read alteration notes, mark clothing correctly, and maintain a clean, organized workspace. You’ll discover how every fabric has its own personality — and how tailors work with each one carefully. This job is about precision — small changes can make a big difference in how a garment fits and feels.

Basic Qualifications:

• Collaborate with bridal boutiques, fashion designers, dry cleaners, or retail stores for bulk alteration services or specialty fittings.
• Perform fittings, mark garments for alteration, and make adjustments to achieve ideal fit and silhouette.
• Respect client privacy and preferences—handling custom orders with discretion and attention to detail.
• Keep a clean, organized workspace—safely storing pins, fabrics, measurements, and tools.
• Track materials and supplies needed for upcoming projects, helping maintain stock of threads, linings, and zippers.

Preferred:

• Familiar with different stitching techniques, patterns, and finishing methods for a clean, professional look.
• Can maintain tailoring equipment and perform basic machine upkeep when necessary.
• Values craftsmanship, patience, and precision in every stitch.
• Knows how to use pressing tools like steam irons and mannequins to finish garments properly.
• Proficient in sewing, altering, and repairing garments by hand or using industrial sewing machines.
