You’ll support asphalt patching, pothole filling, and basic concrete work as part of scheduled maintenance routes. You’ll be trained to use small equipment like leaf blowers, hedge trimmers, pressure washers, and push mowers safely. You’ll assist with checking water levels, replacing filters, and performing seasonal fountain startup or shutdown procedures. You’ll operate or assist with nighttime lighting equipment, generators, and power tools depending on task needs. You’ll support scheduled shut-offs or reconnections for water service and notify affected residents when necessary. You’ll work closely with traffic control teams, utility supervisors, and dispatch during emergency or planned overnight work.
Basic Qualifications:
- Inspect utility systems regularly to identify wear, leaks, or potential hazards.
- Demonstrate accountability by following procedures and completing tasks thoroughly.
- Assist in troubleshooting electrical, water, or waste systems with senior technicians or supervisors.
- Maintain vehicles and tools by checking for wear, damage, and performing routine servicing.
- Clear debris from streets, drains, or public areas to maintain functionality and safety.
Preferred:
- Understands the importance of protecting public infrastructure and keeping communities safe and functional.
- Able to operate vehicles such as utility trucks, sweepers, or light construction equipment safely and effectively.
- Can interact respectfully with the public and answer basic questions about work being done.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions and performing physically demanding tasks.
- Comfortable lifting, digging, shoveling, and using hand or power tools for extended periods.
Benefits:
- Work that’s both challenging and rewarding — you’ll solve problems and make a direct difference every day.
- Paid training and certifications — we invest in your professional growth and safety.
- Work outdoors or in the field — you’ll enjoy physical activity and a change of scenery each day.
- You’ll make a tangible impact — keeping the lights on, water flowing, and gas available is a critical service.
- A role that makes a real difference — you’ll be part of something that directly impacts people's lives.
You’ll assist in loading materials, fueling machines, and prepping trucks at the start and end of each shift. You’ll follow city safety guidelines, wear protective gear, and use traffic cones or warning signs when working roadside. You’ll follow safety procedures while using hand tools, ladders, and equipment in wet, hot, or dusty conditions. You’ll interact courteously with the public and answer basic questions about services or scheduled activities. You’ll rotate between multiple parks and green spaces in your district to keep each area consistent and well-maintained. You’ll help track tasks completed, materials used, and areas serviced each day on digital or paper logs. No experience is required — just physical readiness, a sense of responsibility, and comfort with night work and outdoor conditions. If you’re ready to repair, restore, and protect your city while most are asleep, we’re ready to bring you on night duty. If you’re ready to care for the places where the city gathers, strolls, and rests — we’re ready to bring you onto the team.
