Description:

We’re hiring an Accounting Assistant who’s ready to learn the ropes, grow in the role, and build a strong foundation in finance. You’ll support our finance team from anywhere — entering transactions, tracking expenses, and keeping things running behind the scenes. You will process invoices, verify documentation, and ensure that entries are properly categorized and recorded. You’ll assist in preparing reports, tracking expenses, and making sure nothing slips through the cracks. You will adhere to established accounting procedures, ensuring compliance with internal controls and audit standards. You’ll work asynchronously with our team, checking in regularly via Slack, email, or quick video updates. You will work closely with both internal teams and external vendors to support accurate and efficient payment processes. You will maintain organized financial files, track expense reports, and contribute to a clean and auditable ledger. You’ll have clear documentation, checklists, and support to guide your work — no guesswork, no micromanagement. You will demonstrate strong time management skills, particularly when handling recurring tasks and reporting deadlines.

Basic Qualifications:

• Ask questions early to avoid costly data entry or classification errors—accuracy is key in finance.
• Help streamline accounting processes by suggesting automation tools, better templates, or documentation standards.
• Communicate with vendors and clients to resolve billing discrepancies, request missing documentation, or confirm transactions.
• Prepare journal entries under supervision and assist in the month-end and year-end close processes.
• Stay organized under deadlines—especially during financial close, budget season, or audit cycles.

Preferred:

• Wants to grow into roles like Junior Accountant, Financial Analyst, or Payroll Coordinator.
• Experience working with spreadsheets and accounting software like QuickBooks, Xero, or FreshBooks.
• Organized and methodical when managing records, folders, or audit checklists.
• Enjoys supporting a company’s financial health through behind-the-scenes operations.
• Willing to support the accountant or finance manager with recurring tasks and project-based work.
