Description:

We’re hiring a beginner Gardener / Landscaper who wants to turn hard work and sunlight into something beautiful. You’ll be part of a team that turns plain outdoor areas into peaceful, green, living spaces. We’ll teach you the basics: how to handle tools safely, how to dig without damaging roots, and how to water properly. You’ll begin with tasks like watering, weeding, carrying tools, and helping set up planting beds. You’ll learn how to use essential tools like pruners, shovels, rakes, and lawnmowers safely and correctly. You’ll also begin to understand how seasons affect plants — when to plant, when to prune, and when to let things rest. You’ll assist with laying sod, planting trees, building garden beds, and keeping landscapes clean and healthy. We’ll teach you how to shape hedges, edge walkways, spread fertilizer, and care for trees and shrubs. We’ll guide you through tool safety, plant identification, and eco-friendly techniques that protect local ecosystems.

Basic Qualifications:

• Assist in sourcing and selecting plants, garden materials, and decorative features from local nurseries or suppliers.
• Install sod, turf, or ground cover and prepare soil by digging, aerating, or grading for optimal growing conditions.
• Provide input on design improvements or efficiency upgrades that could improve visual appeal or lower maintenance.
• Adapt to outdoor working conditions—sun, rain, heat, or cold—and maintain productivity across changing environments.
• Assist in seasonal landscaping tasks such as snow removal, planting bulbs, or applying winter protection to plants.

Preferred:

• Able to maintain and troubleshoot sprinkler systems or hose-based watering schedules.
• Can manage time efficiently and complete tasks to meet project deadlines.
• Knowledge of basic plant care, soil types, pest control, and irrigation practices.
• Willing to assist with hardscaping tasks such as laying stones, borders, or light pathway construction.
• Can identify common plant species, weeds, and signs of disease or poor soil health.
