Description:

We’re looking for a sharp and level-headed Online Chat Moderator to help us maintain a positive and respectful atmosphere across our digital platforms. You’ll be responsible for monitoring real-time chats, identifying violations, and stepping in when things go off track — all while making sure users feel welcome and respected. This isn’t just about banning trolls — it’s about cultivating a space where real conversations can thrive. You should be a strong communicator who can respond quickly without losing professionalism or empathy. You should be comfortable multitasking across different platforms (think Discord, Telegram, live events, forums) and using moderation tools to take quick action when needed. You should be quick on your feet, able to handle high volumes of messages, and comfortable using moderation tools like bans, mutes, and reports without overreacting.

Basic Qualifications:

• Encourage meaningful engagement by asking light questions or pointing users toward helpful content.
• Be a calm, neutral presence in heated moments, de-escalating tension before it spreads.
• Help develop or refine moderation guidelines based on evolving community needs.
• Use judgment—some situations call for strict enforcement, others for empathy and conversation.
• Monitor live chat rooms, forums, or community channels to maintain respectful and safe conversations.

Preferred:

• Eager to build experience in a digital support or moderation role.
• Familiar with basic online etiquette and understands what behavior is unacceptable.
• Can manage time and multitask between reviewing messages and writing responses.
• Has participated in online chats, Discord servers, or forums.
• Open to learning moderation software and reporting systems.
