Description:

We’re hiring a Translator Trainee to help with subtitles and video content — no experience required, just good listening skills, language precision, and an eye for timing. No prior experience is necessary — just a love for languages, an eye for detail, and a willingness to learn fast. We’ll teach you how to keep translations short, consistent, and intuitive — so they fit design without losing clarity. You’ll learn how to work with string tables, keys, and variable-based content like “You have 3 new messages. You’ll help ensure that the translated text feels natural to native speakers while staying true to the original meaning. You’ll help improve auto-subtitles, edit AI drafts, and make sure translations flow naturally and stay faithful to the original. You’ll get hands-on experience with real projects, adapting content for cultural relevance and user context. You’ll help test localized builds, report layout bugs caused by translation, and suggest shorter or clearer alternatives. You’ll join feedback sessions, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and learn how language shapes user experience.

Basic Qualifications:

• Handle confidential materials with discretion and professionalism.
• Deliver polished translations, not first drafts—every word should feel intentional.
• Adapt content so it makes cultural and linguistic sense for the target audience—not just a word-for-word swap.
• Translate with empathy—considering emotional context, not just technical accuracy.
• Flag content that may not translate well culturally and offer localized alternatives.

Preferred:

• Fluency in at least two languages, with excellent grammar, spelling, and cultural understanding in both.
• Familiar with using CAT tools like SDL Trados, MemoQ, Smartcat, or DeepL Pro to assist with productivity.
• Enjoys turning ideas and information into language that resonates across borders.
• Organized with file naming, version tracking, and clear documentation for each project.
• Able to maintain meaning, tone, and context during translation across various subject areas.
