Description:

We’re hiring a Public Transport Inspector to focus on the technical inspection of vehicles — perfect for someone who’s detail-oriented, mechanically curious, and committed to public safety standards. You’ll patrol platforms, escalators, and train cars to ensure passenger safety, operational compliance, and cleanliness throughout the station. You’ll be trained to use handheld scanners, validation apps, or visual checks to confirm passenger payment status quickly and discreetly. You’ll be trained to identify early signs of wear, rust, fluid leaks, or damage that could lead to service interruptions or safety risks. You’ll coordinate with overnight drivers, dispatchers, and transit security to report incidents or equipment failures immediately. You’ll use diagnostic tools, hand instruments, and visual assessments to record detailed vehicle condition reports. You’ll assist drivers or conductors by verifying their logs, reporting delays, and confirming security camera operation. You’ll monitor fuel and fluid levels, tire condition, and battery health as part of preventive maintenance protocols. You’ll help ensure all vehicles adhere to city and national transport regulations before entering public service.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Help monitor cleanliness, accessibility, and functionality of public transport vehicles and facilities.
  • Work independently across large areas while staying organized and alert.
  • Document all actions taken during shifts for review, auditing, or enforcement follow-up.
  • Use handheld devices or apps to verify digital tickets or log inspection data accurately.
  • Issue warnings or fines to fare evaders in accordance with local transport authority guidelines.

Preferred:

  • Comfortable interacting with the public in a respectful and assertive manner while maintaining authority.
  • Values fairness, public safety, and efficiency in transportation oversight.
  • Background or interest in public service, transport systems, or civic compliance.
  • Able to interpret schedules, maps, and service zones to verify route accuracy and stop coverage.
  • Willing to support driver safety, customer assistance, and crowd control during peak hours or events.

Benefits:

  • Job security — public transport is essential, and your role is critical to keeping it running smoothly.
  • Paid time off and holidays — because you deserve time to recharge.
  • A positive working environment — work alongside a team of professionals who value your contribution.
  • You’ll work in a structured, fair environment where you’re valued as a vital part of the team.
  • Your work ensures safety — you're making sure passengers travel safely every day.

You’ll document nighttime activity, incident logs, and inspection summaries with detail and accuracy. You’ll support customer service by answering rider questions, providing directions, or distributing service update materials during inspections. You’ll assist vulnerable passengers — such as late-shift workers, tourists, or homeless individuals — with calm and respect. You’ll work independently or in pairs, often as the only representative of transit authority in remote or quiet areas. You’ll be expected to stay alert and professional during extended hours, especially between 11 PM and 5 AM shifts. You’ll contribute to monthly audits, reports, and internal reviews that help improve city-wide transport quality. No previous experience is required — just reliability, strong observational skills, and comfort working after dark. No prior technical experience is required — just a strong eye for detail, willingness to learn, and comfort around machinery. If you're ready to help keep public vehicles reliable, safe, and road-ready, we’re ready to train you as a transport inspector.
