Description:

We’re hiring a Mail Carrier Trainee who’s ready to learn how to deliver mail efficiently, accurately, and with a friendly attitude — rain or shine. You’ll start by learning high-density city routes, using maps and GPS to navigate alleys, apartment blocks, and busy streets efficiently. You’ll be trained to sort mail by road or township, grouping letters and packages by delivery order for maximum efficiency. You’ll be trained to use postal systems to scan, weigh, and label items correctly for local and international destinations. You’ll drive through a mix of paved and unpaved roads, stopping at mailboxes, gates, or porches to complete deliveries. You’ll learn how to operate basic sorting machinery and how to clear minor jams or reset bins during the shift. You’ll assist with organizing mail for different carrier routes, grouping by zip code, street, or delivery order. You’ll gain experience delivering to businesses, apartments, homes, and remote areas while staying on schedule. You’ll help handle rerouted mail, forwarding it when needed or returning undeliverables with notes for follow-up.

Basic Qualifications:

• Report damaged mail, unsafe mailboxes, or unusual activity to supervisors promptly.
• Sort and organize mail and packages for your delivery route before leaving the post office.
• Follow assigned routes efficiently while adapting to detours, traffic, or road conditions.
• Communicate any delays, missed deliveries, or issues with dispatch or supervisors.
• Keep your delivery vehicle clean, fueled, and stocked with supplies like forms and mailbags.

Preferred:

• Experience handling physical deliveries, either on foot, by bicycle, or by vehicle, in residential or commercial areas.
• Able to maintain accuracy when delivering letters, parcels, registered mail, or certified items requiring signatures.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record if operating a delivery vehicle is required.
• Follows mail security protocols, ensuring privacy and safety of all mail and packages handled.
• Familiar with scanning packages, updating tracking info, or recording delivery confirmations using handheld devices.
