Description:

We’re hiring Phlebotomist Trainees — no experience required, just steady hands, a calm voice, and a genuine desire to help people. You’ll be trained to collect blood samples from infants, toddlers, and young children in a way that’s safe, clean, and as stress-free as possible. We’ll teach you the proper techniques step by step: vein selection, needle handling, labeling, and safety protocols. You’ll learn to draw blood using proper technique, maintain sterile procedures, and monitor donors for reactions or discomfort. Every child is different — some cry, some freeze, some ask questions — and you’ll learn how to respond with patience and care. You’ll learn how to work with nervous patients — how to explain, reassure, and help them feel safe in your care. You’ll become skilled at working independently while staying connected to the lab team and communicating in real-time. You’ll become comfortable working with nurses, pediatricians, and parents as part of a care team focused on comfort and accuracy. Some days will be challenging — but the small wins, like a brave smile or a high five after a clean draw, make it incredibly rewarding.

Basic Qualifications:

• Monitor patients for dizziness or fainting and respond quickly if needed.
• Remain calm and gentle, even in busy or high-stress environments.
• Use electronic health records (EHR) systems to update patient info and order statuses.
• Adjust techniques for patients with special needs or medical conditions.
• Dispose of needles, gloves, and biohazard waste properly after each draw.

Preferred:

• Able to follow chain-of-custody procedures for drug screenings or forensic tests.
• Familiar with infection control, universal precautions, and sharps safety protocols.
• Able to identify suitable veins, prepare collection equipment, and follow proper site sanitation procedures.
• Values precision, cleanliness, and patient-centered care in every interaction.
• Wants to grow into roles like Lab Technician, Medical Assistant, or Clinical Lab Specialist.
