Description:

We’re hiring a Baker Trainee to support our vegan and gluten-free bakery — perfect for someone who’s curious about alternative baking and passionate about inclusive, ingredient-conscious recipes. You’ll begin by supporting early morning prep — scaling ingredients, cracking eggs, and measuring flour to precise specifications. You’ll assist in mixing, folding, and resting doughs for baguettes, sourdough, sandwich loaves, and specialty breads. You’ll be trained in measuring ingredients precisely and understanding how substitutions affect texture, rise, and flavor. You’ll rotate between tasks like mixing, baking, glazing, and plating — seeing the full process from start to finish. You’ll help load industrial deck ovens, rotate products, and time multiple bakes at once to avoid overbrowning or underbaking. You’ll learn how to operate mixers, ovens, proofers, and cooling racks safely and efficiently. You’ll receive guidance on overnight pacing — how to stay focused and productive through long, quiet hours. You’ll learn how to prep café-style treats like banana bread, cinnamon rolls, and lemon bars that match the mood of the space.

Basic Qualifications:

• Work early mornings or overnight shifts to ensure goods are ready for opening hours.
• Maintain equipment by cleaning mixers, ovens, and utensils regularly and reporting any malfunctions.
• Keep cool under pressure when juggling multiple timers, orders, or adjustments.
• Prepare a variety of baked goods such as breads, pastries, cookies, and cakes according to recipes.
• Coordinate with team members to divide tasks and keep the workflow smooth during busy hours.

Preferred:

• Wants to grow into roles like Head Baker, Pastry Chef, or Bakery Manager.
• Open to learning seasonal items, specialty recipes, or new techniques as part of professional growth.
• Able to clean equipment, follow closing procedures, and prep for the next day’s production.
• Background or passion in baking, culinary arts, food production, or pastry design.
• Understands the shelf life and storage requirements for different baked goods.
