Description:
We’re hiring a CNC Machine Operator Trainee to work with high-strength materials — the kind that require precision, patience, and a respect for every cut you make. You’ll be responsible for setting up, running, and monitoring CNC machines to produce high-quality parts that meet exact specifications. Your training will start with the basics: understanding materials, reading blueprints, learning tool names, and shadowing live machine setups. You’ll be shown how to load raw material, align fixtures, and use proper torque — because the foundation is everything in machining. You’ll learn the differences in cutting speeds, coolant flow, and insert selection when machining something that fights back with every revolution. You’ll be taught how to listen to the machine, feel vibration through the handles, and know the early signs of tool failure before it ruins the part. You’ll be expected to monitor not just part quality, but machine behavior — temperature drifts, spindle load spikes, tool chatter — and react with calm precision. You’ll get comfortable navigating CNC control panels — not just pushing buttons, but understanding what each one does and why. You’ll learn why precision starts before the cycle runs — from coolant flow to machine warmup, from zero offsets to tool height settings.
Basic Qualifications:
- Assist with machine changeovers or setups for different part runs, minimizing downtime between jobs.
- Train or assist junior operators when needed—sharing best practices and helping them build foundational machining skills.
- Set up and operate CNC machines such as mills, lathes, or routers to produce parts according to technical drawings or blueprints.
- Ensure proper labeling, packaging, and transfer of completed parts to the next stage of production or quality control.
- Monitor the machining process—checking for tool wear, part defects, and machine accuracy throughout each run.
Preferred:
- Familiar with safety procedures in a machine shop environment, including use of PPE.
- Thrives in hands-on, production-oriented environments with clear goals and teamwork.
- Able to work with metals, plastics, or composites depending on production needs.
- Capable of performing routine maintenance such as cleaning machines and checking fluid levels.
- Able to follow job orders and production schedules with accuracy and attention to detail.
Benefits:
- Your input matters — if something’s off, we fix it, not ignore it.
- We train and upskill — no experience? No problem, we’ve got your back.
- You’ll be operating top-grade CNC equipment — not museum pieces.
- Clear path to senior operator roles — no dead ends here.
- We don’t expect perfection on day one — we teach, not criticize.
You’ll ask questions, take notes, and build technical habits that stay with you long after the internship ends. You’ll document your process, note wear patterns, and take pride in hitting spec on materials that most shops avoid. You’ll help maintain machines that require tight alignment, fine-tuned balancing, and daily checks to stay production-ready. You’ll track part history, update digital logs, and learn how data drives decisions on the modern floor — not just gut feeling. You’ll be expected to stay organized, meet production goals, and contribute to a clean, efficient workspace. You’ll discover that great CNC work isn’t about pushing “start” — it’s about understanding what happens after you do. You’ll end this program not just with experience, but with respect — for the process, the tools, and the craft of high-performance machining. If you take pride in doing things carefully, learning things properly, and becoming someone others can count on — we’d be proud to train you. ” If you value quiet focus, technical skill, and the satisfaction of solo work done well — we’re ready to train you after dark.
