Description:

We’re hiring a Translator Trainee to help with subtitles and video content — no experience required, just good listening skills, language precision, and an eye for timing. You’ll assist in translating interface text: buttons, tooltips, error messages, notifications, and onboarding flows. We’ll teach you how to adapt tone and context — not just translate words, but preserve intent and cultural nuance. We’ll guide you through the process of maintaining consistent tone, voice, and terminology across projects. ” Expect to translate UI copy, adapt tone for different markets, and avoid wordy phrasing that breaks layouts. You’ll also help review AI-generated drafts, correct errors, adjust phrasing, and polish translations for clarity. We’ll guide you through character limits, subtitle rhythm, line breaks, and how to keep things readable on screen. You’ll practice translating real content for blogs, product descriptions, presentations, or customer support. We’ll teach you how to maintain glossaries and translation memories, ensuring consistency across screens and updates.

Basic Qualifications:

• Ask questions when context is missing—it’s better than guessing and getting it wrong.
• Adapt content so it makes cultural and linguistic sense for the target audience—not just a word-for-word swap.
• Take pride in the invisible art of making content feel like it was written in the target language.
• Maintain a clean, well-organized translation memory and termbase.
• Translate captions, UI elements, documents, and everything in between as needed.

Preferred:

• Able to follow specific client style guides, tone of voice, and branding instructions.
• Open to collaboration with editors, project managers, or localization engineers.
• Capable of translating content across various domains, such as legal, medical, technical, or marketing.
• Comfortable working with bilingual spreadsheets, PDF files, or CMS exports and re-imports.
• Fluency in at least two languages, with excellent grammar, spelling, and cultural understanding in both.
