Description:
We’re hiring a CNC Machine Operator Trainee for our night shift — someone who’s ready to learn, stay focused, and take real responsibility even when the shop is quiet. You’ll work alongside experienced machinists who will teach you how to run high-precision equipment safely, efficiently, and with pride in every part you help produce. You’ll read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and job orders to program the machine accordingly. You’ll load materials, inspect tools, calibrate settings, and make sure everything is aligned before the first cut is made. You’ll monitor production closely — adjusting speeds, feeds, and tool paths to maintain accuracy and efficiency. You’ll run aluminum, stainless, or plastics — and start to understand how different materials behave under speed, feed, and coolant changes. You’ll assist in preparing tools, changing inserts, cleaning chips, and keeping the work area safe, tidy, and ready for production. You’ll assist with auto-pallet changers, chip conveyors, and probe systems that verify part dimensions between cycles. You’ll follow structured workflows, guided by ERP systems or tablets, that keep production traceable and on time.
Basic Qualifications:
- Set up and operate CNC machines such as mills, lathes, or routers to produce parts according to technical drawings or blueprints.
- Collaborate with engineers, quality control teams, and production supervisors to resolve production issues or suggest process improvements.
- Work with a variety of materials including aluminum, steel, plastics, or composites depending on production needs.
- Ultimately, ensure precision parts are produced accurately, efficiently, and safely—supporting the backbone of modern manufacturing.
- Follow safety guidelines and wear appropriate PPE when working with machinery, sharp tools, or hot surfaces.
Preferred:
- Able to follow job orders and production schedules with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Comfortable using micrometers, calipers, and other measuring instruments to inspect finished parts.
- Comfortable reporting production issues, defects, or equipment malfunctions to supervisors.
- Values precision, consistency, and quality in every stage of the machining process.
- Capable of performing routine maintenance such as cleaning machines and checking fluid levels.
Benefits:
- Supervisors who actually listen and help, not just bark orders.
- Get paid weekly (yes, really) — because bills don’t wait till the 30th.
- Team lunches, tool upgrade votes, and music on the floor (within reason).
- Clear path to senior operator roles — no dead ends here.
- We don’t expect perfection on day one — we teach, not criticize.
You’ll troubleshoot minor issues on the fly, and escalate problems when precision or safety could be compromised. You’ll work alongside experienced machinists and programmers who respect the machines — but also know their limits. You’ll be shown how to take pride in a surface finish, how to hear when a tool is dull, and when to say “that’s not within tolerance. You’ll track part history, update digital logs, and learn how data drives decisions on the modern floor — not just gut feeling. You’ll discover that working nights isn’t just about peace and quiet — it’s about being reliable, alert, and taking pride in holding the line. You’ll grow quickly, because night shift demands confidence, calm thinking, and the ability to stay cool when something doesn’t go as planned. You’ll finish this internship with real hands-on skill, industry vocabulary, and a clear sense of whether this path is truly yours. If you take pride in doing things carefully, learning things properly, and becoming someone others can count on — we’d be proud to train you. ” If you value quiet focus, technical skill, and the satisfaction of solo work done well — we’re ready to train you after dark.
