Description:
We’re inviting you to step into the world of tailoring — a craft built on care, detail, and tradition. If you’ve never touched a sewing machine before, don’t worry — we’ll guide you through every stitch. That’s fine — all you need is steady focus, a careful eye, and a love for clothing that fits right. You’ll observe skilled tailors as they work on suits, dresses, coats, and custom pieces. In your first weeks, you’ll help with simple alterations like hemming, adjusting lengths, and reattaching buttons. We’ll teach you how to handle garments with respect, treat customers with sincerity, and let your work speak for itself. We’ll show you how to follow alteration notes, pin properly, and avoid common mistakes in cutting and sewing. Over time, you’ll grow more confident with tools like seam rippers, pressing irons, chalk, and industrial machines. You’ll train your eye to see symmetry, your hands to steady under pressure, and your mind to solve quiet problems.
Basic Qualifications:
- Work with delicate fabrics (silk, lace, chiffon) or structured materials (denim, wool, leather) using appropriate techniques.
- Stay updated on current fashion trends, tailoring techniques, and fabric technologies to offer modern and functional solutions.
- Consult with clients to understand their preferences, style, and fit needs—providing expert advice on tailoring options and fabric behavior.
- Suggest fabric choices, trims, or modifications to clients when designing or altering garments for special occasions.
- Ensure all alterations are finished with attention to detail—seams straight, hems clean, buttons aligned, and lining intact.
Preferred:
- Able to follow custom instructions or adjust standard patterns to meet individual client needs.
- Able to take accurate body measurements and translate them into well-fitted garments.
- Knows how to use pressing tools like steam irons and mannequins to finish garments properly.
- Understands garment construction and how to disassemble and rebuild pieces for a better fit.
- Can maintain tailoring equipment and perform basic machine upkeep when necessary.
Benefits:
- You get credited for your craft — your name can be part of the label.
- Ongoing training and skill upgrades — learn embroidery, patternmaking, or design.
- We value quality, not just speed — take pride in your work.
- Opportunities to work on custom pieces, bridal gowns, designer orders, or uniforms.
- Quiet workspace, no chaos — just the hum of the machine and good lighting.
This job rewards patience — it’s about getting the little things right, not rushing through them. Expect to assist during client fittings, quietly observing how tailors adjust clothing to body shape and posture. You’ll become part of a shop that values tradition, detail, and treating every garment like it matters. We value patience and craftsmanship — fast isn’t the goal, quality is. You’ll be part of a shop where craftsmanship matters more than speed and each stitch tells a story. Over time, you’ll gain speed, trust, and responsibility — working on more complex garments and alterations. You’ll go home with real skills in your hands and a growing sense of pride in your craftsmanship. If you’re ready to turn curiosity into craftsmanship, and effort into expertise — this is your moment to begin. If you're ready to build a skill you can use for life — and maybe even turn it into a career — we’ll help you start from zero.
