Description:

We’re hiring a Veterinary Assistant to support our inpatient care and ICU — ideal for someone who stays calm under pressure and wants to help animals during their most vulnerable moments. You’ll assist with hospitalized patients recovering from surgery, trauma, or illness, providing constant observation and comfort. You’ll help load and organize the mobile unit with equipment, vaccines, supplies, and portable diagnostic tools before each visit. You’ll assist with physical exams of cattle, horses, goats, sheep, pigs, and outdoor dogs, ensuring proper restraint and comfort. You’ll assist with health assessments, logging weight, temperature, condition, and any visible injuries or stress signals. You’ll monitor animals during recovery after surgeries or sedation, reporting any concerns to medical staff immediately. You’ll assist with medical documentation, recordkeeping, and reporting findings during field visits or wellness rounds. You’ll rotate animals safely for bedding changes, physical support, and hygienic care. ) and prepare them for lab testing. You’ll assist with handling emergencies like heat stroke, egg binding, or impactions in reptiles or birds.

Basic Qualifications:

• Prepare exam rooms with necessary tools, supplies, and clean linens before each appointment.
• Assist during euthanasia procedures with compassion and professionalism.
• Prepare bodies for cremation or owner pickup with dignity and respect.
• Sterilize instruments and prepare surgical packs for upcoming operations.
• Feed, bathe, and walk animals according to care instructions or recovery plans.

Preferred:

• Familiar with common veterinary terms, medications, and vaccine schedules.
• Able to help with euthanasia support, grief sensitivity, and respectful handling of deceased pets.
• Capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment while remaining calm and supportive.
• Values compassion, attention to detail, and patience in all interactions with animals and owners.
• Able to restrain animals safely and calmly for procedures like vaccinations, nail trims, or blood draws.
