You’ll begin by learning shop safety, how to use tools properly, how to lift vehicles, and how to stay organized under the hood. You’ll be shown how to use diagnostic scanners, multimeters, and manual methods — not just push buttons, but understand what the numbers mean. ” You’ll be taught how to read service manuals, write clean job notes, and explain issues clearly to other techs or service advisors. You’ll communicate clearly with service writers, parts managers, and customers when needed — with no jargon, just straight talk. You’ll be encouraged to ask questions, make mistakes (safely), and learn the difference between guessing and diagnosing.

Basic Qualifications:

• Maintain inventory of tools, request replacements, and ensure calibration of diagnostic equipment when needed.
• Communicate clearly with service advisors or customers to explain diagnostics, recommended repairs, and cost estimates.
• Remain calm and solution-focused when facing complex or intermittent issues that require in-depth testing.
• Prioritize workload and manage multiple repairs while meeting shop timelines and customer expectations.
• Assist in training junior technicians or apprentices on shop procedures, tool usage, and repair best practices.

Preferred:

• Comfortable working on both gas and diesel engines; hybrid or EV experience is a bonus.
• Open to learning new diagnostic tools and repair procedures as technology evolves.
• Willing to explain technical issues in a simple, clear way to non-technical clients.
• Familiar with shop safety protocols, proper tool usage, and hazardous material handling.
• Comfortable reading and interpreting service manuals, wiring diagrams, and repair instructions.
