We’re looking for a Trainee Tailor who’s ready to learn one of the most respected and useful trades — tailoring. You don’t need experience, just focus, patience, and a genuine interest in how clothes are made and altered. That’s fine — all you need is steady focus, a careful eye, and a love for clothing that fits right. You’ll observe skilled tailors as they work on suits, dresses, coats, and custom pieces. Expect to assist with simple tasks like hemming pants, fixing buttons, and prepping garments for alterations. We’ll teach you how to handle garments with respect, treat customers with sincerity, and let your work speak for itself. You’ll discover how tailoring isn’t just about clothing, but about confidence, heritage, and detail people can feel. Every day you’ll improve — stitching straighter, handling fabric better, and moving with more confidence. You’ll also assist with fittings, where you’ll see how small tweaks dramatically improve comfort and look.

Basic Qualifications:

• Perform fittings, mark garments for alteration, and make adjustments to achieve ideal fit and silhouette.
• Measure clients accurately using tape measures and fitting techniques to ensure custom garments or alterations fit precisely.
• Train apprentices or assistants on stitching, fitting, and finishing techniques when applicable.
• Suggest fabric choices, trims, or modifications to clients when designing or altering garments for special occasions.
• Track materials and supplies needed for upcoming projects, helping maintain stock of threads, linings, and zippers.

Preferred:

• Can work with both traditional paper patterns and digital templates or measurements.
• Comfortable performing tasks such as hemming, tapering, resizing, and replacing zippers or buttons.
• Pays strong attention to detail and maintains consistency in every stitch and seam.
• Comfortable interacting with customers for fittings and design consultations in a professional manner.
• Wants to grow into roles like Master Tailor, Pattern Maker, or Custom Clothing Designer.
