Description:

We’re hiring a Baker Trainee who’s passionate about working with their hands, learning classic techniques, and starting each day with the smell of fresh bread and pastry. You’ll assist in preparing muffins, scones, cookies, and breads for the daily pastry case, learning how to work with small batches and seasonal ingredients. You’ll assist in mixing doughs, folding batters, and learning how different ingredients behave under heat and time. You’ll be trained to shape loaves, rolls, and pastries with consistency and care, following in-house recipes and ratios. You’ll help prep and bake items like vegan muffins, gluten-free cookies, banana bread, or allergen-free sandwich loaves. You’ll support glazing, decorating, and finishing items like croissants, tarts, muffins, or specialty breads. You’ll assist with decorating pastries and arranging baked goods in the display case in an appealing, inviting way. You’ll assist in maintaining a clean, allergen-controlled workspace and logging batches to track consistency and safety. You’ll be part of testing new recipes, helping explore how natural binders and leaveners react in small-batch baking.

Basic Qualifications:

• Comply with allergen labeling and handle cross-contamination risks carefully.
• Participate in menu planning or product development when new ideas are welcomed.
• Maintain equipment by cleaning mixers, ovens, and utensils regularly and reporting any malfunctions.
• Operate ovens, mixers, proofers, and other bakery equipment safely and efficiently.
• Ensure all items meet consistent taste, texture, and appearance standards.

Preferred:

• Able to follow recipes precisely, measure ingredients accurately, and adjust batch sizes as needed.
• Experience preparing baked goods such as breads, pastries, cookies, cakes, or pies in a commercial or artisanal setting.
• Team-oriented and able to collaborate with pastry chefs, decorators, or kitchen staff.
• Background or passion in baking, culinary arts, food production, or pastry design.
• Capable of working under pressure during peak production hours while maintaining attention to detail.
