Description:

We’re hiring a Plumber Trainee to assist with heating system installations and maintenance — ideal for someone who’s technically curious, safety-conscious, and wants to master the systems that keep buildings warm. You’ll begin by shadowing experienced plumbers on urgent calls such as burst pipes, overflowing toilets, and sudden leaks. You’ll assist with carrying tools, loading materials, and preparing the work area before repairs or installations begin. You’ll be trained to identify basic plumbing components like pipes, valves, fittings, and fixtures. You’ll help with simple tasks such as tightening joints, cutting pipe, cleaning drains, and removing old hardware. You’ll learn how to handle tenant requests respectfully and communicate updates to building managers or supervisors. You’ll support seasonal boiler maintenance — cleaning burners, checking ignition, inspecting flue vents, and adjusting settings. You’ll be taught to identify signs of wear in aging systems and recommend when replacement is more efficient than repair. You’ll help document service calls, note parts used, and explain findings to clients under supervision.

Basic Qualifications:

• Use tools such as pipe cutters, plungers, augers, and inspection cameras with precision.
• Estimate job materials and labor costs for quotes or invoicing purposes.
• Interpret blueprints and building codes to plan pipe layouts and drainage systems accurately.
• Uphold cleanliness and professionalism—leave every job site better than you found it.
• Maintain detailed records of services performed, parts used, and hours worked.

Preferred:

• Knows how to properly install water heaters, pumps, garbage disposals, and backflow prevention devices.
• Able to provide accurate cost estimates, timelines, and scope of work before beginning a job.
• Comfortable diagnosing leaks, clogs, pressure issues, and other plumbing malfunctions accurately and efficiently.
• Familiar with both residential and commercial plumbing systems including kitchens, bathrooms, and utility lines.
• Willing to be on-call for emergency services including burst pipes, flooding, or no-water situations.
