Description:

We’re looking for a Junior Backend Developer to help us build reliable, scalable, and efficient server-side solutions. You’ll work closely with senior developers to design, implement, and maintain the server-side logic and databases for web applications. You’ll assist in writing clean and well-documented code using backend technologies such as Node. js, Python, or Ruby on Rails. You’ll assist with database management, ensuring data integrity, and supporting efficient data retrieval for various services. You’ll be responsible for building and maintaining RESTful APIs that enable seamless communication between frontend and backend systems. You’ll collaborate with the team to optimize performance and improve the scalability of our backend infrastructure. You’ll troubleshoot and debug issues, working to improve system performance and resolve bottlenecks. You’ll help ensure the security of our applications, including data protection, authentication, and authorization.

Basic Qualifications:

• Test endpoints using tools like Postman, Insomnia, or built-in unit/integration tests to ensure functionality and reliability.
• Follow basic security principles like input validation, access control, and environment variable management.
• Stay up to date with new backend tools, frameworks, and best practices to sharpen your skills over time.
• Ask questions and seek mentorship when stuck—backend development can be complex, but learning fast matters more than knowing everything.
• Participate in code reviews, retrospectives, and planning meetings to stay involved in the full development lifecycle.

Preferred:

• Has created personal or academic projects involving backend logic or API development.
• Understands the basics of error handling, logging, and debugging backend services.
• Curious about performance, scalability, and how to write efficient queries or endpoints.
• Excited about solving real-world problems using server-side logic and data structures.
• Eager to improve in areas like security, scalability, and clean architecture over time.

You’ll write automated tests, ensuring that all backend systems are properly validated and function as expected. You’ll be responsible for maintaining version control, using Git and GitHub to collaborate with the team and manage code changes. You’ll be responsible for ensuring the security of the backend, implementing authentication, authorization, and encryption protocols. You’ll work with version control tools like Git to collaborate effectively with the team and track changes in code. You’ll collaborate with DevOps engineers to implement continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
