Description:

We’re looking for a detail-oriented Transcriptionist to join our team and transcribe audio and video files into written documents. You’ll be responsible for transcribing audio and video recordings, including interviews, focus groups, podcasts, and webinars. You’ll ensure every transcription is clear, well-structured, and includes accurate timestamps, speaker identification, and necessary formatting. You’ll edit and proofread your transcriptions, ensuring they are clear, concise, and free from grammatical errors. You’ll use transcription software and tools to ensure efficiency, but also maintain a high level of precision. You’ll manage your time efficiently to meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality in your work. You’ll be working with diverse content, including legal, medical, and technical audio, requiring specialized knowledge for accuracy. You’ll ensure that all transcripts are delivered within agreed-upon deadlines, managing your time and workload effectively.

Basic Qualifications:

• Stay focused during long sessions—transcription requires mental stamina and active listening.
• Format transcripts according to specific guidelines—verbatim, clean read, time-coded, speaker-labeled, etc.
• Communicate professionally with clients to confirm instructions, request extensions, or clarify unclear parts of recordings.
• Use foot pedals, noise-canceling headphones, and other tools to improve efficiency and clarity when working with difficult audio.
• Stay current with transcription tools, keyboard shortcuts, and productivity techniques to increase output without losing accuracy.

Preferred:

• Fast and accurate typing skills, ideally 60+ words per minute.
• Comfortable working independently in a remote, deadline-driven environment.
• Experience using timestamps, speaker tags, and formatting tools efficiently.
• Comfortable working with audio that includes accents, background noise, or technical terminology.
• Uses transcription shortcuts, foot pedals, or playback tools to enhance efficiency.

You’ll stay updated with industry best practices, improving your transcription skills and keeping up with new tools and technology. You’ll provide accurate transcriptions of audio with different accents, tones, and background noise, adjusting for clarity and context.
