Description:
We’re hiring a Public Transport Inspector to focus on the technical inspection of vehicles — perfect for someone who’s detail-oriented, mechanically curious, and committed to public safety standards. You’ll be responsible for monitoring transit vehicles and routes to confirm adherence to schedules, cleanliness standards, and safety regulations. You’ll conduct random checks on vehicles and platforms, verifying driver conduct, passenger behavior, and service punctuality. You’ll be trained to inspect emergency exits, fire extinguishers, lighting systems, and ventilation in accordance with safety codes. You’ll document observations in digital or paper forms, reporting violations, equipment failures, or service disruptions to dispatch or supervisors. You’ll perform random fare checks, ensuring nighttime riders follow proper payment protocols. You’ll assist with verifying proper signage, accessibility routes, and digital information displays for accuracy and functionality. You’ll help check maintenance readiness — lights, signage, cleanliness, accessibility features — and log any deficiencies. You’ll inspect shelters and waiting areas for damage, cleanliness, or safety concerns, and submit maintenance requests if needed.
Basic Qualifications:
- Use handheld devices or apps to verify digital tickets or log inspection data accurately.
- Support crowd management and passenger flow during peak hours or special events.
- Monitor buses, trams, or trains to ensure compliance with schedules, routes, and operational standards.
- Remain visible and professional to deter violations and reassure passengers.
- Work independently across large areas while staying organized and alert.
Preferred:
- Can report on mechanical issues, environmental hazards, or unsafe rider behavior observed during inspections.
- Able to interpret schedules, maps, and service zones to verify route accuracy and stop coverage.
- Pays close attention to schedule adherence, cleanliness, safety compliance, and rider conduct.
- Enjoys being active, interacting with people, and ensuring a high standard of service for the community.
- Familiar with uniforms, ID badges, and professional appearance requirements when representing the agency.
Benefits:
- Clear performance feedback — we support your success with regular check-ins and growth opportunities.
- Flexible shifts — full-time, part-time, and rotating shifts available, so you can find the balance that works for you.
- Ongoing training and development — we support your growth with regular updates on safety standards and procedures.
- Your work ensures safety — you're making sure passengers travel safely every day.
- A positive working environment — work alongside a team of professionals who value your contribution.
You’ll document nighttime activity, incident logs, and inspection summaries with detail and accuracy. You’ll receive training in emergency protocols, flashlight signaling, radio communication, and nighttime de-escalation tactics. You’ll rotate through depots, garages, and yards during early morning or overnight hours to complete pre-shift inspections. You’ll work in all types of weather and interact with a wide range of passengers, from commuters to tourists to schoolchildren. You’ll be expected to stay alert and professional during extended hours, especially between 11 PM and 5 AM shifts. You’ll contribute to monthly audits, reports, and internal reviews that help improve city-wide transport quality. No experience is required — just confidence, honesty, and the ability to stand for long periods and stay calm under pressure. No prior technical experience is required — just a strong eye for detail, willingness to learn, and comfort around machinery. If you're ready to keep the underground running safely and smoothly, we’re ready to train you for metro inspection duty.
