Description:

We’re looking for a Gardener / Landscaper Trainee — no experience needed, just a willingness to get your hands dirty and learn something real. You’ll be part of a team that turns plain outdoor areas into peaceful, green, living spaces. You’ll start with basic tasks like raking, watering, weeding, and helping move soil, mulch, and plants. Your early days will include sweeping paths, preparing soil, unloading plants, and cleaning up after the crew. You’ll learn how to use essential tools like pruners, shovels, rakes, and lawnmowers safely and correctly. You’ll also begin to understand how seasons affect plants — when to plant, when to prune, and when to let things rest. You’ll assist with laying sod, planting trees, building garden beds, and keeping landscapes clean and healthy. You’ll discover how to prepare soil, transplant plants without damaging roots, and create healthy growing environments. We’ll guide you through tool safety, plant identification, and eco-friendly techniques that protect local ecosystems.

Basic Qualifications:

• Track hours, materials used, or tasks completed using logs or apps for reporting and billing purposes.
• Trim trees, remove dead branches, and support proper tree structure using appropriate pruning methods.
• Stay informed about regional plants, watering needs, and sustainable landscaping practices suitable for climate and soil.
• Assist in sourcing and selecting plants, garden materials, and decorative features from local nurseries or suppliers.
• Install sod, turf, or ground cover and prepare soil by digging, aerating, or grading for optimal growing conditions.

Preferred:

• Able to maintain and troubleshoot sprinkler systems or hose-based watering schedules.
• Willing to assist with hardscaping tasks such as laying stones, borders, or light pathway construction.
• Can identify common plant species, weeds, and signs of disease or poor soil health.
• Enjoys hands-on work, fresh air, and seeing the results of their efforts grow over time.
• Understands how to follow landscaping plans or instructions from clients or supervisors.
