You’ll begin with the basics: folding fabric, threading needles, and understanding the rhythm of the sewing machine. Each day, you’ll observe fittings, learn to take measurements, and understand the language of cut, fit, and fabric. You’ll help prepare garments for fittings, steam out wrinkles, and hand over freshly pressed pieces with pride. We’ll teach you how to handle garments with respect, treat customers with sincerity, and let your work speak for itself. You’ll be trained by master tailors who will guide you through techniques that take years to perfect. Over time, you’ll grow more confident with tools like seam rippers, pressing irons, chalk, and industrial machines. Expect to build both technical skills and artistic judgment — tailoring is as much about feel as it is about tools.

Basic Qualifications:

• Adjust garments for special needs or accessibility (e.g., adaptive clothing modifications for medical or mobility reasons).
• Consult with clients to understand their preferences, style, and fit needs—providing expert advice on tailoring options and fabric behavior.
• Sew, alter, repair, and restyle clothing such as suits, dresses, pants, jackets, and uniforms using sewing machines, sergers, and hand stitching.
• Suggest fabric choices, trims, or modifications to clients when designing or altering garments for special occasions.
• Respect client privacy and preferences—handling custom orders with discretion and attention to detail.

Preferred:

• Familiar with sewing machines, sergers, overlockers, and hand-stitching tools.
• Values craftsmanship, patience, and precision in every stitch.
• Able to take accurate body measurements and translate them into well-fitted garments.
• Able to follow custom instructions or adjust standard patterns to meet individual client needs.
• Wants to grow into roles like Master Tailor, Pattern Maker, or Custom Clothing Designer.
