We’re hiring a Mail Carrier Trainee for rural routes — perfect for someone who’s responsible, enjoys quiet roads, and wants to bring dependable service to small communities. You’ll begin by learning how mail and packages arrive at the distribution center and are sorted for morning routes. You’ll be trained to sort mail by road or township, grouping letters and packages by delivery order for maximum efficiency. You’ll be trained to use postal systems to scan, weigh, and label items correctly for local and international destinations. You’ll learn how to scan deliveries, get electronic signatures, and mark successful drop-offs using a handheld device. You’ll learn to recognize repeat recipients and build trust with residents who rely on you for news, medicine, and supplies. You’ll work in a clean, high-paced environment where accuracy and rhythm matter more than speed alone. You’ll help collect outgoing mail from rural homes, pickup boxes, or roadside stands as part of your route. You’ll be expected to maintain a courteous and professional attitude with residents, shopkeepers, and colleagues.

Basic Qualifications:

• Collect outgoing mail from homes and drop boxes, ensuring proper postage and handling.
• Follow assigned routes efficiently while adapting to detours, traffic, or road conditions.
• Be physically prepared for long periods of walking, lifting, and repetitive motion.
• Keep your delivery vehicle clean, fueled, and stocked with supplies like forms and mailbags.
• Stay on schedule even during peak mail seasons like holidays or special campaigns.

Preferred:

• Comfortable carrying mailbags, walking long distances, and making frequent stops throughout the shift.
• Familiar with organizing, sorting, and loading mail or packages for efficient route delivery.
• Able to work in a variety of neighborhoods and maintain professionalism with every customer interaction.
• Can quickly learn new routes or adjust to coverage areas when covering other carriers.
• Pays strong attention to addresses, unit numbers, and special delivery instructions.
