Description:

We’re hiring a Public Transport Inspector to focus on the technical inspection of vehicles — perfect for someone who’s detail-oriented, mechanically curious, and committed to public safety standards. You’ll patrol platforms, escalators, and train cars to ensure passenger safety, operational compliance, and cleanliness throughout the station. You’ll conduct random checks on vehicles and platforms, verifying driver conduct, passenger behavior, and service punctuality. You’ll assist in inspecting ticketing systems, validating fare compliance, and interacting with passengers when needed. You’ll inspect interiors for cleanliness, accessibility, proper signage, and functioning ticket validators or displays. You’ll be expected to manage minor disputes on board by de-escalating calmly and avoiding disruption to service. You’ll assist drivers or conductors by verifying their logs, reporting delays, and confirming security camera operation. You’ll help passengers understand how to purchase tickets, recharge travel cards, or file complaints or questions if needed. You’ll inspect shelters and waiting areas for damage, cleanliness, or safety concerns, and submit maintenance requests if needed.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Issue warnings or fines to fare evaders in accordance with local transport authority guidelines.
  • Monitor stops and terminals for loitering, unauthorized vendors, or potential disruptions.
  • Stay informed about updates to public transit policies, fare structures, or route adjustments.
  • Support crowd management and passenger flow during peak hours or special events.
  • Monitor buses, trams, or trains to ensure compliance with schedules, routes, and operational standards.

Preferred:

  • Wants to grow into roles like Senior Inspector, Operations Coordinator, or Compliance Officer.
  • Familiar with emergency protocols, passenger rights, and proper communication during service disruptions.
  • Enjoys being active, interacting with people, and ensuring a high standard of service for the community.
  • Able to check passenger tickets or passes, verify fare validity, and issue warnings or fines when necessary.
  • Can report on mechanical issues, environmental hazards, or unsafe rider behavior observed during inspections.

Benefits:

  • Job security — public transport is essential, and your role is critical to keeping it running smoothly.
  • Opportunities for overtime — especially during peak travel times or busy seasons.
  • You’ll never be bored — every day brings new challenges and new passengers.
  • A positive working environment — work alongside a team of professionals who value your contribution.
  • You’re not just enforcing rules — you’re helping people get to their destinations safely and on time.

You’ll receive training in conflict de-escalation, transit law, and emergency response procedures specific to public transport. You’ll support customer service by answering rider questions, providing directions, or distributing service update materials during inspections. You’ll participate in drills and simulated emergency scenarios to prepare for fire, power outages, or evacuation procedures. You’ll work independently or in pairs, often as the only representative of transit authority in remote or quiet areas. You’ll be mentored by senior inspectors who will show you how to balance authority with respect and efficiency with fairness. You’ll receive mentorship from senior inspectors who will train you in metro-specific protocols and observation strategies. No prior experience is required — just professionalism, integrity, and the willingness to be a visible part of a vital system. If you’re ready to protect the integrity of public transit and ensure everyone rides fairly, we’re ready to train you for inspection duty. If you're ready to keep the underground running safely and smoothly, we’re ready to train you for metro inspection duty.
