Description:

We’re hiring a Journalist / Copywriter Trainee to help us report real stories — no experience needed, just curiosity, empathy, and a commitment to writing with truth and clarity. You’ll help generate, refine, and humanize AI-assisted content — from blog posts and product descriptions to taglines, ads, and email copy. We’ll teach you how to simplify actions, reduce friction, and write text that helps users without overwhelming them. You’ll work closely with designers, product managers, and developers to craft clear, intentional text across interfaces. Expect to rewrite confusing labels, break long instructions into steps, and add warmth or clarity to default system messages. You’ll help create copy for forms, modals, dropdowns, confirmation messages, and mobile flows. You’ll gain experience writing short profiles, event recaps, long-form articles, and mini-documentaries in written form. Some days you’ll cover real-time updates, other days you’ll chase slower stories that take time to unfold — both matter. You’ll gain habits around writing concisely, testing alternatives, and thinking about tone in moments of success, error, or hesitation.

Basic Qualifications:

• Help brainstorm creative campaigns or content series that tell a bigger story.
• Support other writers, editors, or departments when content bottlenecks happen.
• Balance creative freedom with messaging goals, timelines, and legal requirements.
• Write headlines, subject lines, and social copy that grab attention without being clickbait.
• Proofread everything—twice—before it goes live or to print.

Preferred:

• Can adjust copy length and style depending on format: short captions, long-form features, or microcopy.
• Organized in managing content calendars, drafts, feedback, and final delivery timelines.
• Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to adapt tone for different audiences and platforms.
• Comfortable conducting interviews, sourcing quotes, and verifying facts for credibility and accuracy.
• Experienced in using content management systems (CMS) like WordPress, Ghost, or Webflow.
